Sep 16 - RIDE the INDIE WAVE: Panel with JODI CILLEY and RICH VARVILLE!!!

Climb on board, hang ten and ride the SD Indie Wave!!! A big welcome to JODI CILLEY, founder and fearless leader of Film Consortium San Diego! Jodi and writer/director RICH VARVILLE, unit manager on the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence, will hold a panel on riding the indie wave together that’s going to make the SD Area a global filmmaking destination.

We’ll also be having some more structured networking including 15-second introductions and better opportunities to make ALL the connections you really want to make. And as always, we’ll be enjoying a red carpet, photo stations, drinks and food, a studio tour (get there at 5 pm!), more free headshots and lots of glitzy, campy, Hollywood-style fun.

Welcome also to Larry Poole and the SAG-AFTRA monthly networking event, which is going to be held this month only in conjunction with the FilmNet event due to a scheduling conflict. You see, first 48-Hour scheduled their film festival on the 9th and 10th, so we decided to move FilmNet to the third Tuesday just this month. But then we found out that's the night Larry and his union actors gather for their event. A few friendly texts and we solved the problem. NOTE: Those with SAG-AFTRA cards get in free (this month only).
Filmmakers Network San Diego's Monthly Event is back!!! At long last we’re starting up monthly networking events again to support the local film community. It's going to be even more hands-on, interactive and productive this time. Besides networking and hosting guest speakers, we will showcase short films and promo material, work on pitches and invite industry gatekeepers to hear them, put on fun games and contests as well as many more enriching activities. Networking includes supporting local producers, creators, actors, crew and film professionals in their effort to assemble teams and develop content and marketing opportunities, along with original FilmNet content and a documentary of our group, events, participants and their projects. Feel free to bring a guest or two! Below is the schedule for our meeting:

5:00–6:30 / Studio tour, doors open for sign-up and seating
6:30-7:15 / Intros and success stories
7:15–8:15 / Presentation, Q & A
8:15–9:00 / Networking

Actors, please bring headshots if you have them. Business cards or any promotional materials a plus. $5.00 admission at the event.
