This is a repeat of my dog's favorite hike for this group. It's a 2.4-mile loop trail around Kit Carson Park. About half of the trail is paved, and the other half is hard-packed dirt. It is fairly level, making this an easy hike. However, we will follow a side trail (called the View Trail) 0.16 miles up a small hill to the gazebo. The gazebo has the best view of the park. We will walk by Queen Califia's Magical Circle - Wikipedia. It is open on Thursday at 9am. You can go into Circle if you do the 2nd loop with us or you can go on your own. There are squirrels & ducks along this trail, especially when we pass the lake. We will take water breaks as necessary.
Dogs mush be leashed for this hike.

We'll step off nlt 5 mins after posted event start time.
If you like can take a short snack break after the hike in the Picnic area.

Navigation: You will exit on East Valley Parkway which turns into Bear Valley Parkway as you head east. You will continue for approx 3 mi and turn left at Peet Ave. Peet Ave becomes Las Palmas and you will continue on Las Palmas. LR Green School will be on your left once your turn onto Peet. Once you pass LR Green School you will see a driveway that leads into Kit Carson Park. Turn left into that driveway, turn right at the first driveway after the restroom bldg and go to the parking lot. We will meet there. We've met there previously.

Miles: 2.4 - 4.8 mi Optional 2nd loop (depending on heat)
Difficulty: Easy
Elevation: 88'
Length of Hike: 1-1/2 - 2 hours
Pace: Easy dog walking pace, with necessary stops
Trail: Mix of paved and flat dirt sections.

PARTICIPANTS: This is a Ladies only group. No children, or others hike with us. If a friend would like to join us on a hike, they must join the group. New members are always welcome!
YOUR CAPABILITIES: Read the entire hike description carefully. Know your limits. Sign up only if you feel the hike is doable as-described and bring all recommended materials and equipment. If you do not bring water or recommended equipment, you may not be able to continue on the hike, at the organizer’s discretion.
YOUR RSVP: Take your RSVP seriously. If you need to cancel, do so ASAP to make room for others and to aid the organizer. No Shows or those who cancel after the RSVP is closed, without direct contact to the organizer, risk being blocked from other hikes, at the organizer’s discretion.

LEAVING THE GROUP DURING A HIKE: If you want to go ahead of the group or need to leave the hike early, please alert the organizer. Let the organizer know when you’ve completed the hike if you finish ahead of her. If you leave the group/hike without notifying the organizer, you risk being blocked from future hikes.
DONATIONS: 100% optional and not required, your $5.99/year covers the basic costs to keep the meetup group up and running. Donations go towards special events such as the monthly birthday celebrations (gifts, raffle prizes), group giveaways and other enhancements to the group!
BRINGING GUESTS: Please do NOT bring a guest unless they are signed up and have RSVP’d for the hike. All hikers should sign up for our group so they can agree to our disclaimer and the details of the hike.

Dog Group: You are completely responsible for the behavior and welfare of your dog and yourself. The host is not at all responsible for you or your dog. By participating in this event, you acknowledge your responsibility and liability. Dogs must be at least 8 months old and fully vaccinated.
Bring water and a bowl for your dog. Bring water and a snack for yourself. Bring MORE water than you think you and your dog might need - summer hikes can be harder on your dog than you might think.

LEASH REQUIREMENT: No retractable leashes will be used on this hike. Only leashes 6' or less in length are permitted. Dogs must remain on-leash for the entire hike.
SPACE: Do not allow dogs to meet via nose to nose or nose to tail interactions, especially upon arrival. Maintain a minimum 3' distance between dogs at all times.
REACTIVITY: Please position your dog in the back of the pack if they are reactive or uncomfortable in a group. Alert other owners when their dogs get too close to your dog and/or invade your dog's space.
