Introduction to Photography This beginners workshop introduces the fundamentals of photography during a walking tour of the beautiful Presidio Park. If you just bought a camera or are new to photography and want to learn how to take beautiful photos, this workshop is for you. This workshop will introduce you to the basics of exposure and composition techniques that will open the door to endless photographic possibilities. This is a hands on learning experience and a wonderful opportunity to capture beautiful photos of one of San Diego's most scenic areas under the instruction of experienced professional photographers. This workshop will cover: • How your camera works • Lenses • Camera controls and functions • Filters & accessories • Equipment care • Using shutter speed to control motion • Using aperture to control depth of field • Basic composition techniques This workshop takes place outdoors and involves a little walking, so we recommend that you dress comfortably. Don't forget to bring your camera, lenses, charged batteries, and memory cards. We recommend that you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera with shutter priority and aperture priority modes. We do not rent equipment. Notes: The price for this class is $79 and payments must be made when you arrive at the workshop. If you purchased a deal voucher for this workshop through Groupon or Living Social, please bring and present your printed or smartphone voucher when you arrive at the workshop. Outdoor Portrait Lighting If you have ever wanted to take beautiful, professional quality outdoor portraits, this workshop is for you. This workshop will teach you how to use various outdoor lighting techniques and lighting equipment to light your model in different situations. We will cover using natural light and artificial light with reflectors and diffusion panels as well as on and off-camera flash to light your model. This will allow you to take excellent, well-lit portraits in any outdoor environment with either basic or advanced techniques. You will also learn a variety of popular lighting patterns from flattering beauty lighting to dramatic split and Rembrant lighting. We will also cover how to achieve a proper exposure both on your model and in the background in a variety of lighting situations. A professional model will be present for demonstrations and practice. This is a wonderful opportunity to get some excellent shots for your portfolio. We will start this workshop in the afternoon so that we can work up through the golden hour and use sun's direction to better understand how to adapt to each lighting situation. We recommend that members have a DSLR or mirrorless camera and a good grasp on aperture priority mode or manual mode before attending this workshop. Required Equipment: Camera, lens (telephoto recommended), memory card, fully charged batteries. No RSVP necessary - Please contact us to schedule. Private lessons are a wonderful way to get one-on-one undivided education on any area of photography you want to learn. Unlike group lessons, private lessons are available on both weekends and weekdays; however, this is contingent on our schedules as we are working photographers during the week.
