Outdoor Portrait Lighting
If you have ever wanted to take beautiful, professional quality outdoor portraits, this workshop is for you. This workshop will teach you how to use various outdoor lighting techniques and lighting equipment to light your model in different situations.
We will cover using natural light and artificial light with reflectors and diffusion panels as well as on and off-camera flash to light your model. This will allow you to take excellent, well-lit portraits in any outdoor environment with either basic or advanced techniques. You will also learn a variety of popular lighting patterns from flattering beauty lighting to dramatic split and Rembrant lighting. We will also cover how to achieve a proper exposure both on your model and in the background in a variety of lighting situations.
A professional model will be present for demonstrations and practice. This is a wonderful opportunity to get some excellent shots for your portfolio.
We will start this workshop in the afternoon so that we can work up through the golden hour and use sun's direction to better understand how to adapt to each lighting situation.
We recommend that members have a DSLR or mirrorless camera and a good grasp on aperture priority mode or manual mode before attending this workshop.
Camera, lens (telephoto recommended), memory card, fully charged batteries.
We will bring lighting equipment for everybody to share; however, if you wish to bring your own equipment to use, here is list of what we recommend for this class:
• 5-in-1 reflector and diffuser
• Speedlite flash and wireless flash triggers
• Light stand
• Umbrella or portable softbox
