According to Sam Saffron and many other Rails developers, at some point in our lives, we will hit a memory leak. It may be tiny amount of constant memory growth, or a spurt of growth that hits you on the job queue when certain jobs run. Leaks and bloats may be hard to find and cause your service to degrade. In this talk, we are going to explore: 1) How Ruby manages the application memory space 2) How to identify memory leaks and bloats 3) What tools are available for Ruby developers 4) What are some the best practices for preventing leaks and bloats

Adam Cuppy, CodingZeal - "Yes! And..."

What happens when we drop "No, but..." from our daily interactions or life choices in favor of the #1 rule of improv: Yes, and..? This talk is not a technical deep dive into the Ruby VM or a walk through of a new gem. I won't touch on testing strategies or war stories as a developer. Instead, I'm going to teach you improv. We'll call it a social strategy for an awesome life! This talk is for introverts and extroverts alike. You won't be brought onstage (unless you want to be).

DIRECTIONS

Meetings are held at LEARN Academy downtown (704 J Street), at 7:00pm, on the first Thursday of the month. Metered parking downtown is free after 6pm or 8pm, depending on the area, so double-check the meter before you leave without paying. There are also several paid parking lots nearby, if you so choose.
