Marco Carmosino - "When Your Chatbot is Sexist: Correcting Prejudiced AI"
As well as making it possible to order a pizza from Alexa or know what famous painting you most resemble, machine learning is also becoming involved in decision making about jobs, loans, medical diagnoses, and parole. These systems exhibit the same prejudices humans do, leading to unfair decisions. Marco Carmosino will lead us through ongoing research about how to discover and remove these biases in automated decision-making systems. This talk aims to give developers an awareness of the issue and some concrete tests for bias to add to their deployments of AI.
