"Using EQ to Clear Up and Balance Your Mix": w guest Justin Froese

While this meetup was set up by the Audio Engineers Collective it is a great topic for those of you just starting with Home Recording.

Topics include:
How our acoustic environment and micing technique determines the EQ of our recording
How EQ is the first step of mixing, even before volume
How to avoid frequency buildup by carving space
The importance of an EQ with a visualizer
How to achieve a balance of warmth and clarity

Please send an mp3 of one of your songs to CliffKellerMusic@gmail.com by Feb 9th. We will play your song and offer tips on EQ. Songs will be heard in the order they are submitted.

Award-winning songwriter Justin Froese is known for his groove-driven alt pop stylings, built on a diverse palate of musical tastes. His mainstream sensibilities combined with a decade of classical training have resulted in the ability not only to cross genres, but in many cases, defy them.
Justin started recording music at age 11 with his dad’s Sears reel-to-reel player. Then throughout his teens he recorded on 4 track tape machines. It was through the analog linear process of recording that he cut his teeth as an engineer. The migration to digital audio computing was eventually inevitable and Justin became ProTools certified. Along side his own recordings he began to produce other artists, many of which have had great success from his recordings.
Today Justin passionately mentors artists, songwriters and producers in the development of their craft.
