Details

This event has been postponed due to Covid, we are now aiming for April 27th, 2022 (TBC).

Hi everyone!

After organising a number of virtual meetups during and after lockdown, we are delighted to announce that Virgin Media will be hosting our January meet-up face to face at their offices in Reading - RG2 6UU.

We know a number of people from our community may live outside of Reading if so, there is plenty of parking available at Virgin. Kick-off from 7pm with refreshments and pizza available.

We have secured Steve Sanderson, Creator of Blazor for the session Blazor on .Net 6.

.NET 6 is a huge release for Blazor, adding a ton of powerful new features for .NET web developers. This talk will be full of demos to get you up-to-speed on this hot framework, such as:

  • Sharing a single UI codebase for client-side execution, server-side execution, and now native desktop and mobile apps too
  • Updating your application live as you code with hot reload
  • Bringing serious speed to WebAssembly with ahead-of-time .NET compilation
  • Using Blazor components inside existing React, Angular, or Vue applications
  • Simpler and faster interop between .NET and JavaScript
  • Better accessibility by default
  • New error management features

If you have any need to build an app with a UI, whether for the web, desktop, or mobile, this talk will show why it's worth considering .NET and Blazor.

Steve is the creator of Blazor and working with a team that brings you the ASP.NET technology stack, IIS, and other web things. Previously he developed .NET software as a consultant for clients in Bristol and beyond, plus wrote some books for Press, such as Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework. From time to time, he speaks at user groups and conferences and recently has been running a bunch of training courses on topics such as C#, SQL Server, and of course ASP.NET MVC.

Looking forward to seeing you there, any questions on the event let us know!
