What we're about

Some women want more than just a bike and an open road. They want the cycling skills to feel confident and companions who enjoy bicycling and won’t intimidate them.

No one should feel intimidated while riding. Velo Vixens is a place for women of any age to improve their cycling, get in shape, have fun and make friends.

This is a women specific group but of course men can come. Just make sure they have nothing against the color pink!

We now have a Facebook page too! Please "like" us!

February Bike and Brunch (rescheduled rain date)

Bea Evenson Fountain

***Rescheduled from original 02/17/19 date due to rain*** Meet us at the fountain at 11 for roll-out at 11:30. Come and join us on this ride exploring San Diego neighborhoods on lower-traffic roads! The mostly flat route will be under 10 miles, including the ride back to the start. We shall ride and dine together! (note: this event is cross-promoted on Facebook). There will be no shame in walking if the occasional hill is more than you care to ride up. We’ll wait for you! This ride is perfect for less confident riders, riders who are interested in socializing, and/or those who just want to feel better about eating a few extra calories because you earned it! After all, what might be even better than this ride is a place to sit and relax after all that work. This month we ride to a sweet spot, Eclipse Chocolate Bar & Bistro, for some unique brunch-y delights: https://www.eclipsechocolate.com/ After brunch, we can ride back to the starting place for those who need to return to cars. What’s expected of you: Even if you're waayyy out of practice, you should know the general concept of how to ride a bike. Please ride with the group, not ahead. If you are over the age of 18, you will not be required to wear a helmet, but the use of a helmet is encouraged. Don't forget to bring a lock, and make sure your bike is in working order well before the ride, so don't wait until the last minute to dust it off from storage :) If you plan on driving to the meet-up spot, make sure to allow time to accommodate for parking. Information about parking can be found here: http://www.balboapark.org/visit/parking If you are unsure of where the Bea Evenson Fountain is, here is a map:http://tinyurl.com/m8sjukd - we meet closest to the Ruben H. Fleet Science Center. This is a regular monthly ride on the third Sunday of the month, so if you can't come this time and really want to, save the date for Sunday, March 17th, 2019. Happy pedaling :)

Very slow paced ride to a neighborhood San Diego brunch spot. Co-ed, but women-focused. More details to come!
