Segment 12 : (Take 2) Oxford to Newbridge
Details
Important note for anyone new signing up for this walk: please make sure you can make arrangements to get back from Newbridge after the event as public transport is minimal!
What is this?
This is a repeat of Segment 12 for people who missed the last one, and for people who want to make it a full weekend of walking, with Segment 12 on Saturday and Segment 13 on Sunday. After Segment 13 there will only be two left to finish the Thames path. As usual you also have the option to do only the day trip on Saturday or come for the full weekend.

This segment takes us beyond Oxford to a very rural and isolated part of the Thames path, there are no towns on the way, although you may still find a pub or two.
Also note the length of this walk is 13.7 mile, so it is quite a long walk.
Meeting time.
The walk will start at 10:00am.
The oxford station is normally too crowded for a group to assemble comfortably, so we will meet outside the station, in front of the large cycle park. Turn right as soon as you come out of the station and you should see the cycle park.
The 8:50 train from Paddington gets to Oxford at 9:48. The walk will promptly start at 10:00am
Getting to the Meeting Point .
From London the best train to take is the 8:50. Advance tickets are only £6.50 (as of 15th May) if booked early enough. It is best to book early.
The return journey
If you are planning to come only for the day please book an advance return for the 18:50 train on Saturday from Oxford to London.
Please note that there will be no transport provided back to Oxford on Saturday evening as everyone who has confirmed their attendance has said that they will be staying overnight. If you need to return to Oxford we can probably find you the number of a local cab company, but beyond that it's your responsibility.
For those staying overnight at locations other than The Rose Revived, see the overnight stay page for travel details: https://www.meetup.com/Sea2Source/events/63836932/
If you are planning a weekend trip, no need to book any return trains. Vineet has arranged for a mini-bus to take us back from Kelmscot to London (Hammersmith) on the Sunday night; the cost will be £11 per person.

FAQ
What do I need to bring?
It is a long walk in a pretty remote part of the country, you will need good shoes and plenty of energy. Don’t forget water, chocolates and money for lunch and the pint at the end of the trip. The path is likely to be muddy so trainers might not work that well.
What if I can't make it?
Please change your RSVP to "no" as soon as you decide you can’t make it.
What if I am late?
We will be leaving the meeting point at 10:00, to start soon after the 8:50 am train from Paddington which reaches Oxford at 9:48. If you have missed that train the only way to catch up will be a sprint to catch up with us.
Can I do only part of the walk?
If 13.7 miles is a bit too long for you, it is possible to for you to stop at the 10 mile mark at the Ferryman Inn, while there is no public transport from there it is possible to get a taxi. Quitting anywhere else may not be practical.
What if I get lost?
Please don't, but if you do, please phone 07970841367, even if you can make your own way home.
What if it rains or the weather is bad?
The walk will be on rain or shine, make sure you get enough waterproof clothing.
