This Sunday afternoon, let's take a step back in time and enjoy some 1864 style, Vintage base Ball!!! Historic New England holds these weekly ( usually) games at The Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury MA . They are fun, historically accurate games that feature underhand pitching, no gloves allowed -A ball bounced once and caught is considered OUT and so on... The teams playing represent actual teams that played during the 19th century! There are several teams playing today- the schedule is added below. I've also added a few photos depicting the farm below. OPENING DAY VENDORS: Ipswich Ale will be there and also Jim Jam Hot Dogs! Or, pack your own picnic
Join us anytime and stay as long as you'd like! The games start at 11:00 AM ( Meet Up time is Noon)
\ ***COST: **Tickets are $5.00 ( non-members of Historic New England) and can be purchased at the entrance day of
** *THE SCHEDULE: **11:00 AM Lowell Nine vs. Rockinghams
12:30: Clamdiggers vs Live Oaks
2:00: Championship
***WHAT TO BRING: **Please be prepared: It's grass/lawn seating. You will need a chair or blanket, a hat , sunscreen if we end up seated in direct sunlight. You can bring a cooler-picnic lunch, snacks. Or, purchase something there. ( I added the vendor list above). NO ALCOHOL CAN BE BROUGHT IN. Ipswich Ale, a sponsor will be there as a vendor
***PARKING: **Free and they will direct cars as they enter. If you have a disabled placard there is a separate area
***WHERE TO MEET UP: **I will be there before the scheduled time. There isn't any reserved seating. The best I can do is once there add the exact location to the comments on the event page.
**THE WEATHER: **This is a 100% all outdoor event - there's no shelter. Rain cancels. If the weather is questionable and you are on the RSVP list please stay in the loop for any updates regarding
