Nature Journaling Workshop Online

Details

Nature journals are a creative way to record and share information about our observations (permaculture principle #1 is: "observe & interact!"). This online introductory workshop is for all ages and abilities. It is not about creating artistic masterpieces. The goal is to save your observations and ideas with drawings, paintings, numbers, written notes, or any method you enjoy. Journaling helps us to develop our observation skills and consider our connection to the world around us. This workshop will share several journaling activities, and tutorials on using different materials, and resources to help you in the field (a park, your garden, or even the forgotten potato in your pantry).

COST: sliding scale of $10-20. A nonrefundable $10 deposit will hold your place. You can use paypal here or send a check to Seacoast Permaculture, 219 France Rd, Barrington NH 03825. If price is a barrier, contact Amy A.

More about Nature Journaling: Nature journaling is the practice of drawing or writing in response to nature. This fun, relaxing practice helps you to connect more closely with nature, and results in the creation of your own unique nature journal. The goal is not to make fine art. Perhaps your pages will include images, whether simple sketches, detailed colorful drawings or photos that you've taken and printed. You may prefer to write long, detailed descriptions or include a more diary-like account with records of feelings and emotions. Anything goes!

Nature Journaling & Permaculture
The 1st principle of permaculture is to observe & interact. This encourages us to take the time to observe a situation before applying a solution. Through observation, we are able to understand the patterns and relationships between various elements. This can help build relationships within the permaculture community, with nature and places and hosts; deepen our connection with our creativity and the creativity of others and nature; deepen our appreciation of the natural world around us.

About the Host: Rebecca is a board member at Seacoast NH Permaculture. She has an MA in Education and enjoys sharing her passion for environmental education through art. She has been nature journaling for a decade and enjoys learning more about NH wildlife and landscapes.
