There are so many ways that we can and do support each other, in good and tough times. Many of us envision a world where local community and cooperation are far more central than they are now. Please join us for a day that embodies that possibility. Whether we are talking about skills we need, sharing goods, or bringing fun and entertainment to each other, the possibilities abound.

Join us for the whole event or come to what most interests you. The schedule is:

1-1:30: Welcome & opening circle dance
1:30-3: Sharing skills: mending circle (bring your projects), home composting, fermentation, herbal preparations & more
3-4: Give & Take Swap - bring a few items to pass along
4-5: Team Trivia - lots of learning, low competition
5-6: Dinner - simple, locally sourced options, recipes provided
6-7:30: Film: Saving Walden's World
7:30-8pm: discussion

During the event, an Envisioning The Future project will be ongoing as well.

Admission is free. Please register for our planning purposes and indicate if you will be there for the light dinner buffet so we can be sure to have enough food!

More about the Mending Circle: Is your favorite pair of dungarees torn on the knees or needs to be shortened or expanded? Do the elbows on your indispensable flannel hoodie have holes? We can fix that! Bring your loved item that needs fixing, alterations, or embellishing and we can help with ideas and hands on solutions. We will have extra material for patches, thread and needles, and a sewing machine for quick repairs. Let’s make it better!

More about the Give & Take Swap - let's practice sharing outside the monetary economy. Bring a few useful items in good shape you are ready to pass on such as: books, crafting supplies, homemade handicrafts, extra canning jars, seeds. No one goes home empty handed and everyone usually leaves with more than they came with, through some sort of swapping magic. Best of all, we experience the joy of sharing with each other.

More about the film: A former military engineer travels into former "enemy" territory, Cuba, Kerala and Slovenia, returning with uplifting women-led societal solutions that could save the world-on-the-brink his 12-year-old son will inherit. This revealing film following Jim Merkel of Maine USA as he raises Walden in an off-the-grid homestead and wonders: could the very people his past-life’s work targeted hold the keys to a sustainable planet?
