Search Oxford June Meetup - Technical SEO - 8th June

Details

Hey Search Oxford members!

It's time to announce our second Oxford digital meetup of the year 😀

For those who couldn't make our first event, we explored the topic of Ecommerce SEO and let me tell you, it was a cracker. This time, we're diving head first into the topic of Technical SEO; a meetup you definitely don't want to miss out on!

We've got an open bar for you to enjoy a free drink on us and some brilliant talks lined up from some key people in the industry.

🎤 Our opening talk will be from Oliver Sissons presenting: 'Creative Solutions to Technical SEO Problems'.

Oliver is the head of SEO at Reboot Online. Since trying to rank his first few websites and stumbling into SEO whilst at university, he's been lucky enough to work with and learn from some brilliant SEOs and online marketers including the whole Reboot Online team, plus connections on Linkedin. Between now and then he's had the opportunity to work with some amazing brands (2K.com, The Ritz, Etoro etc.) and publish challenging SEO experiments that have been widely shared within the SEO industry.

🎤 Our second talk will be split between the dynamic duo of Jen Macdonald and Virginia Rizzi presenting: ‘Difference and importance of outreaching for SEO and affiliate’.

Jen is the Head of Marketing for Glass Digital, with 7 years experience in the digital marketing sector. She's worked in 3 different agencies as well as a video production company, meaning she's worked across a range of sectors and has skills across multiple specialisms in marketing. Virginia joined Glass Digital in 2018 and is now Head of Affiliate Marketing with a total of 9 years working in affiliate marketing under her belt. After moving to the UK from Milan, Virginia now works on global brands, building affiliate networks on an international scale.

🎤 We're chuffed to announce our headline speaker for the evening will be Mark Preston presenting: 'When it comes to technical SEO, understanding prioritisation is key'.

Mark is the Head of SEO at Hakim Group and has been in the SEO industry since 2001. In that time he's established and grown his own agencies, worked as Head of SEO both agency and in-house, trained hundreds of people within the digital marketing industry, been paid to speak at corporate events around the world, and has written a book, besides being an advisor to some agencies and top level companies.

🎤DETAILED TALK INFO 🎤

"Creative Solutions to Technical SEO Problems"

Oliver commented: "How do you start tackling a site-wide duplicate content problem when re-writing and/or updating content at any meaningful scale just isn’t possible? You have to look for creative solutions."

***

"Difference and importance of outreaching for SEO and affiliate"

Jen and Virginia commented: "During this talk we will be discussing outreach techniques for both SEO and affiliates, how they individually benefit digital marketing strategies and how they link to one another. We want to highlight key ways to convince journalists to work with brands and outline how both services can work together without crossover. We will also introduce the critical differences between affiliate and SEO link-building we need to understand for technical SEO. For example, we will touch on sub-affiliate networks, explaining how this aids fast and efficient affiliate recruitment, while hindering SEO efforts such as link value, authority and brand confidence."

"When it comes to technical SEO, understanding prioritisation is key"

Mark commented: ""As a technical SEO, have you ever been presented with an endless list of technical SEO issues? Do you sometimes wonder where to start, or even if you are actually making a difference?
Let me take you on a journey into the fascinating world of technical SEO and explore what it truly means to be able to understand what specific tasks you need to prioritise in order to move the needle the furthest.
After my talk you will leave with the technical SEO mindset you really need."
