Volunteers needed to sail board boats downriver to Kingsland!
Details
We will sail five board boats from Shattemuc to Kingsland, where they will stay for the winter.
We need volunteers for the following activities.
Please state in the comments if you have a preferred activity.
*5 sailors for the board boats. State in comments whether you will return to Shattemuc by LunaSea.
*1 or 2 crew for LunaSea (our keelboat)
*1 driver to take the dockbox
*Extra people are welcome to come directly to Kingsland in the afternoon to help put everything away. (The time will be announced when we see the fleet's progress downriver.)
Our plan is to rig the board boats starting at 9:00 AM and launch the boats no later than 9:45 AM. Fred and Jerry will take LunaSea. JJ will take the safety boat. They will accompany the board boats in case they need help and tow the boats if Mother Nature does not help us.
Please bring water, sunscreen, hats, etc.
The sail downriver is 6 miles and may be challenging, depending on wind and sea conditions. If we have too many volunteers, we will choose the most experienced sailors to sail the board boats. Less experienced sailors may sail together with more experienced sailors, or they may ride in LunaSea.
We wil arrange carpools in morning and again in the afternoon from Kingsland to Shattemuc.
You must be a paid member of SEAS Westchester to participate in this event (not just a member of our Meetup group).
If you park at Kingsland, remember to tell the person at the booth that you are with SEAS. It will be $5 instead of $10.
The Sleepy Hollow Cultural Festival will be in Kingsland Park that afternoon. Feel free to enjoy the festivities after our sail.
Take Care,
Fred, Jerry, JJ
