Greetings everyone! It's growing hot as hades out there! What better time to enjoy cool air and great art.
SAAM recently rotated its collection and added some wonderful works of calligraphy to its walls. One and done. No re-dos, no screwing-it-up-and-throwing-it-over-your-shoulder. Deeply intentional, meticulously executed, often without a single pause. There are not many things in life or art we do to such a degree.
In this talk I'll walk you through the history of the form, and its traditions, styles and techniques. Then we'll focus on six pieces, ranging from the 1650s to today, that show the extraordinary range of the craft. It's fabulous stuff, and I hope you'll join me.
