We will be playing Castles of Burgundy & all its variations (Dice, Card, & Tuscany)

You are an aristocrat, controlling a small princedom in the Burgundy region of High Medieval France. You are trying to increase your influence by building settlements, powerful castles, practice trade along the river, mine silver, and leverage the skills of travelers.
Castles of Burgundy: Special Ed., uses Dice Rolling, End Game Bonuses, Set Collection, & Tile Placement.
The game is played in five phases, each consisting of five rounds. Each phase begins with the game board stocked with settlement tiles and goods tiles. At the beginning of each round, all players roll their two dice, and the active player a goods die which is made available to the players. During each round, players take turns performing any two of the four possible types of actions: Take or Place a Settlement, Deliver Goods, & Take Workers. What they can do with their action is based on one of their dice.
In addition to these actions, a player may buy a settlement tile from the central depot and place it in the staging area of their player board. Each settlement tile offers a benefit: additional actions, additional money, advancement on the turn order track, more goods tiles, die roll adjustment or victory points. The game ends with the fifth phase. Victory points are awarded for unused money and workers, for undelivered goods & bonus tiles. The player with the most victory points wins.

60-120 minutes expected play time, depending on turnout and player familiarity.

Castles of Burgundy: Dice Game, uses Bingo, Dice Rolling, Simultaneous Action Selection, & Roll & Write.
Combine the dice to your advantage and find the strategy that will lead you to victory. Get the most points, by filling spaces on your board to complete as many color regions as you can. The active player rolls 5 dice, and from the results, each player individually picks one color die, representing a type of hex, and one number die, and uses the combination to fill in a hex on their board as long as its
adjacent to an already-filled hex. When completing a region of hexes, you score points and get a reward, which can be workers or monks that you can use to manipulate the dice, silver coins that you can spend to take extra actions, or goods that you can later ship for points. A “timer”die sets the pace of the game. When it is rolled, players mark a number of boxes on the time track equal to the roll. There are three phases of ten time boxes each. When all time boxes are filled, the game is over and the player with the most points wins.
2 - 5 players
30 minutes expected play time.

A few important details:

  • This event is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM PLEASE be on time!
  • It's Cap Hill, so parking can be a challenge. Please factor traffic & parking into your commute and if you will be late post in messages or the Discord. Phoenix Comics & Games is about a block from several bus lines, the First Hill Streetcar (Broadway & Denny), & the Capitol Hill light rail station.
  • If you need to cancel please do so as soon as you know. People on the waitlist and playing that day will appreciate it! Signing up for this event means other people are counting on you to attend; board games have both a minimum and a maximum player count, so with limited seats available, I want to be sure that those seats actually have people in them. Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours), no-shows, and late arrivals (30+ minutes) without good reason will be marked as no-show for the event and will be automatically moved to the waitlist if one forms for any and all future events they join which are hosted by me and other select hosts!
  • SUPPORT THE VENUE! - Purchasing something isn't a requirement, but it's nice to do since we're using the space. Please support the business if you can!
  • I open signups on Wednesday, 3 days before pressing the "announce" button here on Meetup; if you want to have the opportunity to claim a seat early, you can join the SBG Discord, where I'll post to let users there know as soon as RSVPs open as well as updates and posting polls for future meetups!
