Let’s Play Fifth Avenue! @Anchorhead Coffee!
Details
It is New York in the 1930's. The building boom has reached its zenith. Above all, the skyscrapers on the famous Fifth Avenue tower over the city. But who will find the best building plots? Where are the fanciest boutiques and the choicest galleries? Who has the most sought jeweler in his neighborhood? This will determine success or failure.
Fifth Avenue uses Area Majority & Bidding.
It is a racing board game where players aim to build the best skyscrapers in the best places across New York City. It simply comes down to placing your skyscrapers in places that would have high shopping potential. There, players bid, build skyscrapers and collect building material, and attain rewards for picking the best positions. This really is a testing challenge for any of your estates and construction expertise in making better properties. The goal of the game is to earn victory points (VP), but it's not as simple as building the most skyscrapers. Players score VP by constructing their skyscrapers in prestigious locations—those surrounded by a variety of businesses. To succeed, you’ll need to focus on both the quantity and the quality of your locations, competing with other players to secure the best spaces in New York City. Each round offers players four options to do any one of: place businesses, score districts, collect vital bidding cards. Of these, it's especially necessary at auctions as only with those cards will players be able to make any real bids for constructing anything. For the only construction that may occur with a skyscraper is at the time of an auction. This requires careful planning, sharp tactics, and timely cooperation with opponents. Making wise decisions about where and when to place the skyscrapers may make all the difference in securing your success on Fifth Avenue.
New players are welcome, and the host is happy to teach if you haven't played before.

A few important details:
- The event space is in the basement and there are only stairs (no elevator) if you have mobility issues keep this in mind.
- This event is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM PLEASE be on time! If you would like to bring a guest please message me.
- It's Cap/First Hill/Seattle U, so parking can be a challenge. Please factor traffic & parking into your commute and if you will be late post in messages or the Discord. Anchorhead is only a few blocks from the First Hill Streetcar (Broadway & Pike/Pine or Broadway & Marion) and the #2 and #12 bus lines.
- If you need to cancel please do so as soon as you know. People on the waitlist and playing that day will appreciate it! Signing up for this event means other people are counting on you to attend; board games have both a minimum and a maximum player count, so with limited seats available, I want to be sure that those seats actually have people in them. Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours), no-shows, and late arrivals (30+ minutes) without good reason will be marked as no-show for the event and will be automatically moved to the waitlist if one forms for any and all future events they join which are hosted by me and other select hosts!
- SUPPORT THE VENUE! - Purchasing something isn't a requirement, but it's nice to do since we're using the space. Please support the business if you can!
- I open signups on Wednesday, 3 days before pressing the "announce" button here on Meetup; if you want to have the opportunity to claim a seat early, you can join the SBG Discord, where I'll post to let users there know as soon as RSVPs open as well as updates and posting polls for future meetups!
