What better way to earn money than with electric power?!! But how should you do it? Will you use old-fashioned coal or oil? Maybe you'll be on the forefront of burning garbage. Nuclear power is tempting, as long as you can acquire uranium. You can always be independent of
resources if you go the ecological route. However you decide to generate the energy, you'll have to via against your competitors not only for the most efficient power plants, but for the necessary resources and the sites to
build your network of energy distribution. You'll need to carefully manage your money, and expand your network thoughtfully in order to generate income. You will corner the market If your company is able to build the largest network AND successfully power it.

Power Grid, uses Auction, Catch the Leader, Income Market Network, and Route Building.
You are managing a power company by bidding on power plants, buying resources, and connecting cities to supply electricity. The game is played in rounds with five steps: determining player order, bidding on power plants, buying resources, building houses, and earning money. The player who powers the most cities at the end of the game wins
However, as plants are purchased, newer, more efficient plants become available, so by merely purchasing, you're potentially allowing others access to superior equipment. Additionally, players must acquire the raw materials (coal, oil, garbage, and uranium) needed to power said plants (except for the 'renewable' windfarm/ solar plants, which require no fuel), making it a constant struggle to upgrade your plants for maximum efficiency while still retaining enough wealth to quickly expand your network to get the cheapest routes.
New players are welcome, and the host is happy to teach if you haven't played before.

2 - 6 players
2-2.5 hours expected play time, depending on turnout and player familiarity.

A few important details:

  • This event is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM PLEASE be on time! If you would like to bring a guest please message me.
  • It's Cap Hill, so parking can be a challenge. Please factor traffic & parking into your commute and if you will be late post in messages or the Discord. Phoenix Comics & Games is about a block from several bus lines, the First Hill Streetcar (Broadway & Denny), & the Capitol Hill light rail station.
  • If you need to cancel please do so as soon as you know. People on the waitlist and playing that day will appreciate it! Signing up for this event means other people are counting on you to attend; board games have both a minimum and a maximum player count, so with limited seats available, I want to be sure that those seats actually have people in them. Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours), no-shows, and late arrivals (30+ minutes) without good reason will be marked as no-show for the event and will be automatically moved to the waitlist if one forms for any and all future events they join which are hosted by me and other select hosts!
  • SUPPORT THE VENUE! - Purchasing something isn't a requirement, but it's nice to do since we're using the space. Please support the business if you can!
  • I open signups on Wednesday, 3 days before pressing the "announce" button here on Meetup; if you want to have the opportunity to claim a seat early, you can join the SBG Discord, where I'll post to let users there know as soon as RSVPs open as well as updates and posting polls for future meetups!
