In ancient Greece — the cradle of European culture — Athens, Sparta, Corinth, and Thebes compete for dominance of the Greek peninsula and influence over the shrines. Each player oversees the building of their own city-state. Temple, theater and oracle, a harbor with ships, vineyard with vintner, and many more must find space on the Greek peninsula.

Attika, is a tile laying, resource managing, network building game where players must move fast to get the best land for themselves while blocking their opponents from good building spots. As building is expensive, players seek to save money by using the natural resources of the peninsula. Players also seek to organize their building in an order that allows building for free. The game is won by the first player to connect two shrines or to construct all 30 of their buildings.
New players are welcome, and the host is happy to teach if you haven't played before.

******************************************
At the heart of the Mediterranean, rival cities seek wealth and glory. The most talented architects in ancient Greece stand ready to achieve this goal. Build housing, temples, markets, gardens and barracks, so you can grow your city and ensure it triumphs over the others. Raise its prestige with harmonious planning that conforms to specific rules, and enhance it by building plazas. Stone is an essential resource, so make sure you do not neglect it. You’ll need enough quarries so you can build higher up, making your city stretch towards the sky.

Akropolis, uses Dutch Auction, Layering, Open Drafting, Pattern Building, Tile Placement, & End Game Bonuses. On your turn you will choose a tile from the Construction Site, pay the requisite stone and then add it to your city which will be made up of five different Districts, each of which will score in different ways:
* Houses (blue). Only your longest group of adjacent Houses count.
* Markets (yellow), which cannot be adjacent to any other Market.
* Barracks (red) must be placed on the outer edge of your City.
* Temples (purple), which must be completely surrounded.
* Gardens (green) can be placed anywhere.
Akropolis encourages you to not only expand your City outward, but upward as well. If any of your tiles are placed fully atop the hexes of at least two different tiles, the Districts on that tile count for as many Districts as they are high. For instance, if your Barracks is on the second level of tiles, it will count as two Barracks during scoring. However, none of your Districts will score if you don’t have the matching Plazas. Plazas are denoted by a number of stars on their tile. These stars accumulate throughout the game and act as multipliers for the Districts. By covering quarries you can obtain more stone to help buy more effective tiles for your city. Play continues in this manner until there is only one tile remaining. At that point, everyone should have had an equal number of turns and the game ends. Tally your points and the builder with the most points wins!

(Don't worry, we'll go over the rules on the day, too.)

A few important details:

  • This event is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM PLEASE be on time! If you would like to bring a guest please message me.
  • It's Cap Hill, so parking can be a challenge. Please factor traffic & parking into your commute and if you will be late post in messages or the Discord. Phoenix Comics & Games is about a block from several bus lines, the First Hill Streetcar (Broadway & Denny), & the Capitol Hill light rail station.
  • If you need to cancel please do so as soon as you know. People on the waitlist and playing that day will appreciate it! Signing up for this event means other people are counting on you to attend; board games have both a minimum and a maximum player count, so with limited seats available, I want to be sure that those seats actually have people in them. Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours), no-shows, and late arrivals (30+ minutes) without good reason will be marked as no-show for the event and will be automatically moved to the waitlist if one forms for any and all future events they join which are hosted by me and other select hosts!
  • SUPPORT THE VENUE! - Purchasing something isn't a requirement, but it's nice to do since we're using the space. Please support the business if you can!
  • I open signups on Wednesday, 3 days before pressing the "announce" button here on Meetup; if you want to have the opportunity to claim a seat early, you can join the SBG Discord, where I'll post to let users there know as soon as RSVPs open as well as updates and posting polls for future meetups!
