Let’s Play Tang Garden!! @Stoup Brewing!
Details
The Tang dynasty was considered the first golden age of the classical and now iconic Chinese gardens. Emperor Xuanzong built the magnificent imperial Garden of the Majestic Clear Lake as an homage of life itself and from where he ruled. As an Imperial Garden Designer you will be called to build the most incredible garden while balancing the elements of Nature.
Tang Garden uses Line of Sight, Open Drafting, Set Collection, Tile Placement, & Variable Player Powers. You are a designer for the emperor trying to build a garden by creating the landscape, placing the scenery and creating huge vertical panoramas. During the construction, noblemen will visit the garden to admire the surroundings and the way the natural elements coexist in the most breathtaking scenery humankind has ever laid their eyes upon.
Players will take turns by playing one of the two actions available in the game:
- Placing tiles and matching the elements to increase their personal nature balance and unlock more visiting dignitaries.
By balancing the nature elements on the player boards, players will attract new characters into the garden. On each player turn, if the elements are balanced, the player will have to choose one character from the ones available and finally decide which one of the characters will be placed in the garden, orienting them towards their favorite background, while keeping the other with you to keep use their ability. - Play decorations on the board to get prestige by completing collections.
Players will draw a quantity of cards based on the board situation and choose one to keep. Players will then have to place the chosen decoration in one of the available spots in the garden, creating a unique and seamless scenario that will never be the same.
During the game, by placing tiles on special parts of the board, you will be able to place a panorama tile, a new element that adds a never ending perspective for the visitors. Both small and big panoramas will be placed perpendicularly to the board by attaching it to the board insert by creating a seamless look on the four sides of the board. The Panoramas will interact with the characters at the end of the game by giving prestige points based on what your visitor sees and likes.
At the end of the game, the player with the most prestige will be the winner.
New players are welcome, and the host is happy to teach if you haven't played before.

A few important details:
- This event is scheduled to start at Noon PLEASE be on time! If you would like to bring a guest please message me.
- It's First Hill/Seattle U, so parking can be a challenge. Please factor traffic & parking into your commute and if you will be late post in messages or the Discord. Stoup Brewing is only a few blocks from both the #2 & #60 bus lines and the First Hill Streetcar (Broadway & Marion or Broadway & Pike).
- If you need to cancel please do so as soon as you know. People on the waitlist and playing that day will appreciate it! Signing up for this event means other people are counting on you to attend; board games have both a minimum and a maximum player count, so with limited seats available, I want to be sure that those seats actually have people in them. Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours), no-shows, and late arrivals (30+ minutes) without good reason will be marked as no-show for the event and will be automatically moved to the waitlist if one forms for any and all future events they join which are hosted by me and other select hosts!
- SUPPORT THE VENUE! - Purchasing something isn't a requirement, but it's nice to do since we're using the space. Please support the business if you can!
- I open signups on Wednesday, 3 days before pressing the "announce" button here on Meetup; if you want to have the opportunity to claim a seat early, you can join the SBG Discord, where I'll post to let users there know as soon as RSVPs open as well as updates and posting polls for future meetups!
