Seattle Chinese Learners

To start, we will do self-introductions in the main room. These are simple introductions that usually include your name and location.

Next, we will use breakout rooms to divide based on language level. From there, we will be reading a passage from The Chairman’s Bao. We will have breakout rooms for group reading focused at the Beginner and Intermediate levels. We will continue to have breakout rooms for participants wanting unstructured conversation.

If you are studying independently, this is a great opportunity to talk with other learners and share notes. If you're looking for a structured activity, we recommend that you attend our third Tuesday events.

We make a conscious effort to balance talking about Mandarin with speaking the language. We learn the most through practice and feedback. It's the most fun to learn with other people.

Next, we will use breakout rooms to divide based on language level. These will be at the Beginning/Intermediate Levels (HSK 1, 2, 3 & 4). If we have enough people we will have a Beginner Room (HSK 1 & 2) and an Intermediate Room (HSK 3 & 4), otherwise a shared room. From there, we will be Reviewing 2 or 3 grammar points from the AllSet Learning Chinese Grammar Wiki, practice the sample sentences and create some examples of our own.

We will continue to have a breakout room for unstructured chat.
