A Day in Hong Kong

Details

A Day in Hong Kong is brought to life by ArChan Chan, a passionate Hong Kong-born chef who seamlessly blends her deep-rooted love for Cantonese cuisine with modern culinary techniques.

Having spent years honing her craft in bustling kitchens across Melbourne and Singapore, ArChan returned to her hometown to share the vibrant tapestry of Hong Kong's street food, dim sum traditions, and fine dining experiences through this cookbook. Her intimate knowledge of local markets and authentic flavors allows readers to embark on a delicious journey through the heart of Hong Kong, one dish at a time.

With A Day in Hong Kong, ArChan invites you to step into her kitchen and experience the true essence of Hong Kong culinary culture, from the comforting warmth of a morning congee to the intricate flavors of a Michelin-inspired dim sum platter.

For our potluck, please choose recipes from the cookbook, A Day in Hong Kong - A Cantonese Cookbook. If you would like to propose another Cantonese cookbook, please do so!

Please choose recipes that indicate how many people the recipe serves or how many items the recipe makes. All of us ought to have at least a small portion. Choose a food recipe, but, if you like, do also make a sauce or beverage.

If your RSVP includes +1 guest, please plan to bring at least two dishes from the cookbook. The target number of attendees and dishes is 12.

Let us know what dish or dishes you plan to bring in the comments for this event. I recommend testing recipes that interest you before choosing. Please take your time, but be aware that approaching the week of the potluck waitlist members may ask to bump the undecided.

We love welcoming new folks to the group, and ask that you only RSVP for this event if you fully plan to show up. If fate deems you must change your plans, please update your RSVP ASAP, so other members have time to join and to prepare for the potluck.

You need to be able to receive Meetup emails or you will miss important messages. The effort I can put into messaging individuals is limited. If needed, send me a direct message with specific questions or concerns.

I ask that guests to my home have their true identity in their member profile - a photograph that looks like you and a name you prefer to be called.

Please bring a little cash for dues!
