A smaller-scale, more European Nutcracker ballet in Bellevue
Details
If you would like to see a more European designed, smaller scale, and less expensive Nutcracker ballet this holiday season, the International Ballet Theatre is performing at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, next to the Bellevue Transit Center for buses. The ballets' second act has a mostly adult cast and is geared more towards adults. From the Seattle Times: "Celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Bellevue school (International Ballet Academy), this traditional production is choreographed by ballet master Vera Altunina based on the original 1892 Nutcracker. Guest artist Ana Sophia Scheller, a former principal at New York City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, will star as Clara." From IBT's website: "IBT's interpretation of The Nutcracker Ballet is packed full of its original European flavor, exquisite hand-made costumes, and the anticipated theatrical pageantry." The music is by Tchaikovsky.
The program is a little less than 2 hours, including a 15-minute intermission. We will meet before the performance and during intermission. Ticket prices are $65 (general), and $55 (senior and military). You can buy tickets here (use this link, as there are other web pages that charge more):
