Melakwa Lake - Saturday

Details
This is one of my favorite hikes. The lake is located in a narrow valley with Chair Peak to the east and Kaleetan Peak to the west. It is known for its clear water and beautiful blue-green color. The trail to the lake follows a magical valley of waterfalls, rapids and lush forest.
Meet at 7.00 am at Eastgate park and ride underneath the overpass.
Distance: 9 miles rt.
Elevation gain: 2300ft.
Rating: moderate.
Pace: moderate.
Please bring 10 essentials. There's still snow on the trail, so hiking poles and traction devices ( yak trax, micro spikes) are highly recommended.
Bring some cash to cover the carpool fee . 12 - 15 cents per mile is suggested for riders. It is about 40 miles each way from the park and ride to the trail head.
Note: A Northwest Forrest Service Pass is required for parking at the trail head. We will be hiking moderate pace. (About 2 miles/hour)
