Waltz etcetera (lesson & dance)

Details

A weekly dance since the beginning of 1999, Waltz etcetera is a beloved Seattle tradition. It's a welcoming, noncompetitive mixed social partner dance. More info: waltzetc.com.

WHEN: Every Monday, year-round:

  • 7-8 pm: drop-in Cross-step Waltz class, $20 (includes admission to the dance).
  • 8-10 pm: dance, $10 (free if you were in the class). Mostly waltz, nightclub two-step, and blues.

Here's the story of Cross-step waltz as told by Stanford professor Richard Powers, the man who brought the dance back to life: socialdance.stanford.edu/syllabi/cross-step_waltz.htm.

Waltz etcetera is suitable for all ages. Dress is casual. Come with or without a partner.

LOCATION: The Sunset Hill Community Club, 3003 NW 66th St, Seattle, WA
We're in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of free parking. Please park courteously, not too close to anyone's driveway.

The venue has air conditioning and a lovely hardwood floor. Please bring soft-soled dance shoes that won't leave marks on the floor and change your shoes in the carpeted area near the entrance before walking on the dance floor. Please, no wet shoes or dripping raincoats/bumbershoots on or over our wood floor.

There's no water fountain, so you might want to bring a water bottle.
