Kafka as an Event Streaming Platform
Kafka is highly efficient publish / subscribe messaging system, this talk introduces the concept of an event streaming platform, as well as provides an initial introduction to concepts like the log, producer, consumer, consumer groups, and offsets.

Bio:
Nikhil is Software engineer at Confluent in the Kafka storage team. He was with Microsoft for thirteen years building managed service for Kubernetes on Azure and Kubernetes upstream projects. He also worked in Azure Host team securing virtual machines, aggregation layer for Bing Search back-end and application compatibility for Windows Operating system. Prior to Microsoft he was at Tejas Networks building optical networking switches and routers. He has a B.Tech in Electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
