First World Flight Take-Off Party!

Details
Come celebrate at 2PM on Saturday, April 6th with good food, free beer (for the first 100 people) roaring '20s flappers, and a panel discussion between Crosscut's Mossback and Feliks Banel, producer, host, historian for KIRO Newsradio, editor of "Columbia," the quarterly magazine of the Washington State Historical Society and past deputy director of MOHAI, as we kick off the 175 days of The First World Flight Centennial right where it began, on the shores of Pontiac Bay (north Sand Point).
On April 6th, 1924 four biplanes took off from Sand Point, now Magnuson Park, on the first successful around the world flight. Three years before Charles Lindbergh's solo flight across the Atlantic. Here's more info on this largely forgotten, yet very significant event in Seattle's history and the history of aviation:

We'll meet at the Magnuson Cafe & Brewery. Plenty of free parking.
See you then!
PS--Be sure to mark your calendar for the huge First World Flight landing party on Sept. 28th, sponsored by the Friends of Magnuson Park.

ABOUT THE SEATTLE HISTORY FIELD TRIPS MEETUP
We are amateur historians with an interest in Seattle. Newbies to Seattle are most welcome. Once a quarter, or so, this group organizes a field trip to visit sites which are significant in Seattle's history, and to share what we know about them. In the past we have visited the gravesites of important personages and the locations of famous events. This Meetup is for anyone who has an interest in Seattle's history or who would like to learn more about the founding and growth of Seattle and the surrounding cities, towns, native peoples, highways, dams, natural resources, industries, famous events & dignitaries, famous visitors, etc.
