About us
The Seattle Insight Dialogue Group brings together people interested in meditation, mindfulness, and Buddhist practice, bringing the qualities of individual meditation into the relational field.
Insight Dialogue (https://insightdialogue.org/) is a relational meditation practice that brings meditative awareness into the relationships. Through the Insight Dialogue guidelines, guided contemplations, and shared meditation practice, we explore the Dharma as it unfolds between us. Practicing together can things about ourselves and the world that may be more difficult to see in solitary practice alone, helping us embody the Dharma more fully in all part of our lives.
Our meetings offer opportunities to learn about Insight Dialogue, practice together, and connect with others in a welcoming community. Experienced meditators and those new to meditation or relational practice are equally welcome. No previous experience with Insight Dialogue is needed.

One reason it’s hard: we usually practice alone, eyes closed, in silence. But our days are spent in relationship — eyes open, talking.
Insight Dialogue bridges that gap. It takes relationality itself as the object of awareness: we meditate with partners, eyes open, out loud. The aim is the same as in silent practice — understanding suffering, and realizing freedom from suffering, here and now.
What’s different is that relationship amplifies mindfulness and concentration, and together we can see what we miss on our own. The Dhamma lands in an immediate, embodied way that you can use the moment you leave the room.
Over four weeks, participants will learn the six guidelines of Insight Dialogue. Each two-hour session includes silent meditation, instruction on the guidelines, and contemplation practice with meditation partners. Our time together is focused on practice.

Deepening Together: Insight Dialogue Weekend Retreat
Seattle Insight, 4001 9th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105, USA, Seattle, WA, USPlease register through the Seattle Insight Meditation website.
Meetup limits the number of responses shown here, so the event may still have space even if the Meetup RSVP list is full. The six guidelines of Insight Dialogue — Pause, Relax, Open, Trust Emergence, Listen Deeply, and Speak the Truth — are simple to name and take practice to inhabit. A weekend offers what a weekly class can’t: an extended container to settle into them.
Over two days we’ll take up each guideline in turn, deepening your grounding in all six — whether you met them four weeks ago or have been living with them for years. That mix is deliberate: newer practitioners deepen fastest with experienced partners, and longtime practitioners find their understanding revitalized by the beginner’s mind across from them. Our aim is the aim of all Dhamma practice — seeing how suffering arises, and touching freedom from it, right in the middle of relationship.
Our practice periods are held in silence, alternating quiet meditation with formal Insight Dialogue practice. Between sessions the silence lifts, and meals and breaks are yours to connect in.
Something happens when people practice together this way: you come to know each other quickly, and warmly, in a way ordinary conversation rarely reaches. This is how a sangha gets woven — not just over coffee after a talk, but in practice itself. If you’ve been coming to Seattle Insight and still feel like a visitor, this is a weekend of belonging.
