Cutthroat Pass Larch Hike

Details

Golden Larch Glory at Cutthroat Pass
As autumn unfurls its golden tapestry across the North Cascades, Cutthroat Pass becomes a sanctuary of shimmering beauty. The trail begins gently, winding through alpine forests and rocky outcrops, but as you ascend, the landscape transforms. Towering larches—those rare deciduous conifers—ignite the mountainside in hues of amber and gold, their needles glowing like lanterns in the crisp mountain air.
Each step brings a new vista: jagged peaks piercing the sky, meadows brushed with fall color, and the quiet hush of nature preparing for winter. The air is cool, scented with pine and earth, and the light dances through golden branches, casting a warm glow on the trail.
At the pass, the reward is breathtaking. Panoramic views stretch across the rugged spine of the Cascades, with golden larches carpeting the valleys below. It’s a moment of stillness, awe, and connection—where the grandeur of nature meets the quiet joy of discovery.
