The Blooding
by Joseph Wambaugh

The Blooding is a 1989 true-crime book by Joseph Wambaugh that details the investigation into the 1983 and 1986 murders of two teenagers in Narborough, England. The case became a landmark event in criminal history as it was the first time DNA fingerprinting, a revolutionary technique developed by scientist Alec Jeffreys, was used to identify and convict the killer, Colin Pitchfork. Wambaugh's book recounts the massive manhunt, the false leads, the eventual use of DNA to clear an innocent suspect, and the eventual capture of the real murderer.
