Farvel! Final Meetup run by Adaline

Det er på tide å taka farvel. (It's time to say farewell.)

Join me for one last meetup at Skål Beer Hall in Ballard, where I and my partner will have our chance to say our goodbyes with some good food, drink, and good people.

When I started this group in 2023, I was itching to find other people enthusiastic about having a place in Seattle where folks could speak Norwegian together. In the beginning, we started with some infrequent meets at the library. Since then, we've grown to over a hundred members and have had events, both physical and virtual, and have been running a library of Norwegian literature that people have been able to loan materials from.

Recently, I got a job at TV 2 in Bergen. This July, my partner and I got our residency permits approved by UDI. We will be immigrating permanently to Norway this August. As such, I am stepping away from running and hosting events for SNLM.

It has been a wonderful two years. I've met countless interesting people, and many of you have broadened my world view. I have had a plethora of fun experiences speaking norsk, teaching and learning from others, and seeing all sorts of folks come and go.

It has been a pleasure. I will keep the group open on Meetup to people wishing to organize their own events so long as I can. I will also do my best to transfer the library I have been keeping onto someone else who hopefully can keep it running in some form. My wish is that there will always be a place in Seattle for people to speak, read, and congregate together around the Norwegian language.
