# Mount Rainier Canyoning Expedition
Trip Summary
Dates: July 10-12
Guests: 4 spots remaining
Cost: $350 per person per day.
Meeting: July 10th in Packwood, WA
The Mount Rainier Canyoning Expedition is a three-day immersion into some of the most beautiful aquatic canyons Washington has to offer. We will be meeting on day one in Packwood, WA, using it as our strategic hub to explore the canyongs surrounding Mount Rainier.
## What to Expect
This is a true expedition-style experience. While we have a library of target canyons, the nature of swiftwater canyoning in this region demands flexibility. Water levels (flow) and local weather conditions will dictate our exact choices each morning.
You should be prepared for:
Flexibility: We make real-time decisions to ensure we descend the best and safest routes for the current conditions.
Travel: Some of our premier objectives may be a 1-2 hour drive from our meeting point in Packwood. We make all attempts to structure the days to make the driving as efficient as possible. If we do drive into the back country then we recommend that you plan to camp as there is plenty of free camping available.
Challenge: These are active days involving hiking, rappelling, swimming, and technical problem-solving.
## Draft Itinerary
Day 1: We meet in Packwood in the morning for a gear check, safety briefing, and comprehensive skills review. We will then head to our first canyon objective to dial in our movement systems and get comfortable with the local flow.
Day 2: We continue to build on the skills established on Day 1. We will select a canyon that offers increased technical challenges, allowing the team to refine their movement and efficiency in preparation for our main objective.
Day 3: This is our "big day" and the culmination of the expedition. We will target a premier canyon in the area, potentially involving a longer approach, higher technical difficulty, or more sustained water features. We aim to finish strong with a beautiful descent before wrapping up to celebrate a successful trip.
## Camping & Logistics
We are happy to help you find great spots to stay! We can recommend excellent local campgrounds and dispersed camping areas near Packwood.
Important Note on Permits: Due to strict permit regulations, Wild Sky Guides cannot set up, host, or manage a base camp for you. You are responsible for booking your own campsites, setting up your own tents, and managing your own camp meals.
Gear Rentals: If you are flying in or don't have camping equipment, we can rent you high-quality camping gear (tents, sleeping bags, etc.). Just let us know in advance so we can have it ready for you.
## Technical Gear
As always, we provide all technical canyoning equipment, including wetsuits, helmets, harnesses, and technical hardware. As the date approaches we will send you a list of things you need to bring for canyoning activities.
