The line between transactional and analytical workloads keeps getting blurrier, but moving data between systems is still a headache. This talk dives into Snowflake Postgres - the new managed service built on Crunchy Data's foundation - and introduces pg_lake, our new open-source extension that lets Postgres directly query files in your data lakehouse.

We'll explore:
- Live demo: spinning up Snowflake Postgres and getting hands-on
- pg_lake in action: creating foreign tables and querying Parquet
files directly from Postgres
- Real patterns for moving data between Snowflake and Postgres
- Where these tools fit in modern data stacks
- Hybrid workload scenarios that actually make sense
- Open-source roadmap

If you've ever struggled with getting fresh transactional data into analytics or bringing historical insights into operational systems, this talk will give you some concrete approaches to try - plus hands-on time with tools that are changing how we think about data integration.

Pizza is provided, and we also have a user group lending library of books & papers related to Postgres and Databases.

===== Speaker:
Christopher Heim is a Senior Product Manager at Snowflake working on Postgres initiatives, but speaks from nearly a decade of hands-on PostgreSQL experience since 2015. Previously at Amazon, he worked on Aurora Postgres including the Limitless Database launch for horizontal scaling.
