[Spiderwebb] Plots in Blumport [Playtest]

Details

the City of Blumport is a major center of trade and cultural mecca that sits at heart of disputed territory between the Chesnov Empire, the break-away Federal Republic of Grasslow, the island nation of Scoly, and the Smithian Holy Protectorate, all of whom had reigned over the city at various points in the past, which, while creating a mosaic of conflicting political identities and interests among it's denizens, the city still managed to retain it's own distinct culture and polity despite many attempts at assimilation.

Since 15 years ago, Blumport has operated as a de-facto sovereign city-state which attempts to maintain it's own precarious independence and peace in the region with each passing day.

However, the Major Players of the city are sensing (and maybe slightly facilitating) significant change in the winds, various factions craft their designs in the shadows, planning and executing schemes with and against each other; navigating, manipulating, and leveraging the forces of electoral graft, organized crime, labor disputes, religous conflicts, and geopolitical intrigue to pull the strings of entangled agendas, both aligned and contested, in their own favor.

Within this melting pot of chaotic subterfuge, who, if anyone, will come out on top?

This game will be a playtest of Spiderwebb, my very own original game system.

Spiderwebb is designed to be like an inverted conspiracy thriller, instead of the players being a rag-tag gang of investigators trying to unravel a powerful conspiracy and take down its ringleaders, the Players are the ringleaders, power-brokers, and kingpins of their own respective conspiracies trying to expand their own powerbases and complete their own agendas while navigating complex relationships with the other players and NPCs.

In other words, this game isn't about playing Sherlock Homes, it's about playing Professor Moriarty.

This is a very Early Alpha version of the game, I'm primarily going to be testing for if my experimental changes to the conventions of the TTRPG format, such as incorporating a few information asymmetry mechanics from the social deduction genre, will hold water during actual gameplay with actual players, I'll try my best to cover my bases elsewhere but you may need to expect a little jank while I'm ironing out the kinks.

This game will be beginner-friendly (obviously), players only need to bring pencils and dice.

Pregenerated characters will be provided.

The event will be hosted in a rented private conference room, Players may bring their own food/beverage but are expected to be respectful of the space and clean up after themselves.

Feel free to sign-up even if it puts you on the Waitlist, in my expierence there's usually two or three people who drop-out before the start of the event, usually at the eleventh-hour, and I prefer to have a full table over empty slots.

This Game contains Mature content, Player discretion is advised. All Players, including Guests, must be 18+

Safety Tools: X-Card

Content Warning: this game may contain themes of power abuse, death, violence, poltical violence, and various other unsavory characteristics of the human condition.
