Jeff Thompson will present For-Comprehensions for Pedestrians

This presentation will be something of a travel journal for my random walk into the world of idiomatic Scala. One of the best things about visiting new places is the friends you make along the way. In my travels, I keep running into Scala's for-comprehension and every time we meet, it has something new to teach me. To be honest, I originally thought the for-comprehension was little more than a funny looking loop construct but I have come to appreciate it as a tool for writing clean and sometimes even elegant code. What's more, our relationship has opened my eyes to the practical possibilities presented by the likes of implicit conversions, monads and monad transformers. Anyhow, I'd like to share some highlights of this part of my Scala journey. Hopefully, you all will have some stories to tell as well.

We will again be meeting in the MTN offices near Pike Place Market.

MTN will be providing food and drink.

As always we are looking for people to give talks at future meetups.

Informal networking and eating starts at 6:30PM and the talk starts at 7:00PM.

Due to security concerns the doors to the building are locked at 6PM. Please call or txt 425.280.5500 if no one is at the door to let you in.
