Seattle Scalability Meetup - Apache Mesos + Finatra at Curalate

This meetup focuses on Scalability and technologies to enable handling large amounts of data: Hadoop, HBase, distributed NoSQL databases, and more!

There's not only a focus on technology, but also everything surrounding it including operations, management, business use cases, and more.

Tobi Knaup is the CTO and Co-Founder of Mesosphere,

Managing Microservices & Fast Data w/ Apache Mesos & DC/OS

Tobi's talk will explain how Apache Mesos and DC/OS manage microservices and fast data systems on a single platform. He’ll look at how container orchestration, including resource management and service management, can be streamlined to process fast data in a matter of seconds, allowing for predictive user interfaces, product recommendations, and billing chargeback, among other modern app components.

Speaker Bio: Tobi Knaup is the CTO and Co-Founder of Mesosphere, a startup that brings enterprises the power of cloud native technologies, with the control to run on any infrastructure – datacenter or cloud. He was one of the first engineers and tech lead at Airbnb. At Airbnb, he wrote large parts of the infrastructure including the search and fraud prediction services. He helped scale the site to millions of users and build a world class engineering team. Tobi is the main author of Marathon, Mesosphere’s container orchestrator.

Scalability at Curalate

An overview of all the libraries, tooling, frameworks (including Finatra) and architectural decisions we've made to deal with some unique scalability problems, and why we chose those tools.

Our format is flexible: We usually have 2 speakers who talk for ~30 minutes each and then do Q+A plus discussion (about 45 minutes each talk) finish by 8:30.
