Apache Phoenix + Splunk

Details

This meetup focuses on Scalability and technologies to enable handling large amounts of data: Hadoop, HBase, distributed NoSQL databases, and more!

There's not only a focus on technology, but also everything surrounding it including operations, management, business use cases, and more.

We've had great success in the past, and are growing quickly! Previous guests were from Twitter, LinkedIn, Amazon, Cloudant, Microsoft, 10gen/MongoDB, and more.

This month's guests:

Arun Thangamani, Software Architect at Cobalt/Automatic Data Processing (ADP)

Traditional data-warehousing techniques are sometimes limited by the scalability of the implementation tools themselves. Arun Thangamani explained at Strata how the advanced architectural approaches by tools like Apache Phoenix and HBase allow new, highly scalable live-analytics solutions using the same traditional techniques and showcases a successful implementation at CDK.

Glenn Block, ‎Principal Product Manager- App Platform at Splunk

Ubiquitous data ingest at scale

How can you ingest data in a secure and scalable manner from a multitude of clients and devices? My team at Splunk has been working on this problem for the past 2 years. In this session. I'll talk about how we built a solution that can scale to hundreds of millions of clients to send data, in a robust and secure manner, and which works on-prem or in the cloud. I'll dive in to the technical details and the architecture, and pull some of our lessons learned which you can apply within your own systems.

Our format is flexible: We usually have 2 speakers who talk for ~30 minutes each and then do Q+A plus discussion (about 45 minutes each talk) finish by 8:45.

There'll be beer afterwards, of course!
