Kayak Camping - Full Moon at Hope Island

The full moon is Friday night. I know that many people have a strict work schedule, but highly encourage everyone to paddle out with me on Friday the 21st if at all possible. Please post here & contact me if you are able to arrive on Friday. I'm also happy to linger on the island until Monday with other campers who can stay an extra day.

This is a really beautiful spot, and the best part is that it's close to shore and suitable for beginners. You do not need all the proper gear, skills & experience required for trips in the San Juans & elsewhere in Puget Sound, and it's an excellent opportunity to gain experience & skills for such trips if you are interested. Paddle boards, canoes, etc. are welcome.

I have extra kayaks I can bring for people who don't have their own.

You should bring your own sleeping bag, tent (or hammock) food, water, and if possible, immersion gear (dry suit or wetsuit). No potable water is available on the island. Open fires are not allowed, but I think I'd like to try to bring a small enclosed barbecue this time.

Overnight parking is free and seems to be fairly safe. Most of the people who park there are other paddlers, fishermen & professional shellfish harvesters. No passes are required.
