🌿 Celebrate Older Americans Month — Volunteer at Rainier Beach Urban Farm! 🌿
Join us for a meaningful and hands-on volunteer experience as we come together to support and celebrate our aging neighbors during Older Americans Month!
👥 Who:
You! We’re gathering a small group of volunteers to partner with the East African Senior Center and Tilth Alliance for a day of community impact.
🌱 What:
Get your hands in the soil at Seattle’s largest urban farm! Volunteer activities may include:
- Tending native and pollinator-friendly plants
- Planting and harvesting crops
- Supporting the U-Pick and children’s garden areas
- Removing invasive species in the wetlands
- Assisting in the greenhouses
The East African Senior Center—serving seniors “without walls”—hosts programs and stewards land at this beautiful site.
📍 Where:
Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands
5513 S Cloverdale St, Seattle, WA 98118
(Free parking available or take the 1 Line Light Rail to Rainier Beach Station—about a 15-minute walk)
🗓 When:
Friday, May 8th | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
💛 Why:
To raise awareness for Older Americans Month and give back to the incredible seniors in our community. It’s a great way to connect, learn, and make a tangible difference together.
✅ How to Join:
- Sign up to reserve your spot (limited to ~10 volunteers)
- Complete a required background check prior to the event (I will email you the form for you to send back to me)
- Come ready to get a little dirty and have a lot of fun!
Spots are limited, so be sure to RSVP early. Once you sign up, we’ll send you the background check form and any additional details.
