Details
Hello Seattle Software Developers,
Our next meet-up has been scheduled for Thursday, May 10th. This time we have Alex McNamara, Software Development Engineer from Amazon, giving a talk on functional programming with Clojure. Refreshments/snacks and meeting space will be provided by Amazon.
Here are the details:
Functional programming with Clojure, presented by Alex McNamara (Software Development Engineer at Amazon)
Learning functional programming is a rare opportunity to really change how you think about problem solving, and when you get it you'll feel the same as you did running your first program.
This short talk will introduce you to anonymous and higher order functions using Clojure (http://clojure.org/) (no previous experience necessary). After we cover the basics we'll dive into some coding examples, and a short code competition (with prizes!) using 4Clojure (http://4clojure.com/problems).
For those who don't want to install Clojure locally you can use the TryClojure (http://tryclj.com/) online REPL.
Remember to bring a laptop!
