North Lake Washington Loop Part 6 - South Kirkland P&R to Husky Stadium
Details
This is the sixth and final hike of our multi-part series, which forms a circle around the northern part of lake Washington between highway 520 and Kenmore, over the course of several months.
Parts 1-5 started at Husky Stadium, worked our way north around the lake, then back south through Kirkland. Today, we close the loop with the section from South Kirkland P&R back to Husky Stadium.
Our walk will mostly follow the trail next to highway 520, but with diversions to explore some forested trails on the east side of the lake and the arboretum on the west side of the lake. This walk also includes a trek across the 520 bridge, with photo stops for some hopefully good views of Mt. Baker, Glacier Peak, and Mt. Rainier in the middle of the lake. The hike concludes where part one started, at Husky Stadium, where you can take light rail home, or catch a bus back to today's starting point.
We will have lunch at the Washington Park Arboretum on the Seattle side of the lake. Please bring food.
