"Farm to Table" Impressionist paintings exhibit at Seattle Art Museum

Impressionism is probably the most popular Wester art style, and below is SAM's description of their new exhibit from France. We will meet in the entrance area of the downtown Seattle Art Museum to go through the exhibit, probably individually, as people see at difference paces. I would like to reconvene towards 5 pm or earlier and go somewhere where we can chat and get to know each other. It appears that the museum cafe is closed for a change in restaurants, but maybe it will be open by mid-January, and if not, we could figure out somewhere else. "Featuring more than 50 works by artists ranging from Paul Gauguin, Claude Monet, and Camille Pissarro, to Eugène Boudin, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, and Victor Gabriel Gilbert, this exhibition looks back at the Age of Impressionism through the lens of French culinary tradition. Portrayals of municipal markets and country gardens, provincial farmers and Parisian cooks, glittering restaurants and their fashionable patrons, and tables both laden and wanting reveal how the country’s identity as the world’s gastronomic capital became amplified as it grappled with war, political instability, industrialization, imperialism, and shifting social dynamics."

Admission would be free for SAM members. You can buy online tickets (adult, senior) using the link below, and the ticket would give you access to the entire museum. There are various discounts that you can read about on their discounts page (for example, 10% off for PCC members).
