What we’re about
Hi! This group continues the good vibes generated by our Valentine Writing workshops into a regular monthly meetup, all year long! Enjoy typing a letter, write a novel, or just sketch the scene, in public at local art fairs with our collection of vintage typewriters! Wherever Honey Girl products are sold, there will be a special table for Seattle Types too, at places like the Queer Market (Lumber Yard Bar in White Center, WA) and the Alki Art Fair in West Seattle.

See all- May Writing Event at Queer Market!the lumber yard bar, Seattle, WA
Come with ideas, or browse the books on hand to get inspired, then write! It is amazingly absorbing to type on a manual typewriter; a fun and relaxing break from grim reality. We provide two vintage Smith Corona typewriters, scratch paper, and inspiring books with a theme each month. (Free scratch paper; Crane stationery for sale, $2 a page). You can bring your laptop too, no judgments! The theme is May Daze, with poetry on all the zaniness and beauty that sprout up this time of year. You provide the energy that makes the magic happen! All are welcome. This is an LGBTQ+ inclusive event for ages 21+. (Respectful straight allies welcome too.)
Seattle Types meet at local art fairs in and around Seattle, at a table next to the Honey Girl Books and Gifts booths (run by our organizer, Julia DV. https://www.honeygirlbooks.com/).
Contact Julia to reserve a time, 2-6pm, or hang out with us all afternoon. The May 24 event will be held the Lumber Yard Bar's Queer Market.

In the heart of White Center.
The same venue will welcome you on June 14 for the next event!HISTORY OF THE LUMBER YARD BAR
Founded in 2018 as the first gay bar in White Center, the Lumber Yard Bar was a welcoming beacon for years, until a fire in July 2021, later classified as arson, forced the business to close and relocate. The owners called the incident a hate crime.
A GoFundMe fundraising campaign led by White Center Pride was successful in raising $100,000 to restore it! Come see the nicely refurbished Lumber Yard Bar, shop around the Queer Market, and enjoy the great people-watching!
