To embrace the importance of friendship, you must to let go of the myth that friendship happens organically. You have to take responsibility rather than waiting passively. Initiation is particularly important for people who find themselves in new social settings – such as people who have moved to a new city, started a new school or job.

Boasting dozens of spectacular waterfalls, tall basalt cliffs, ubiquitous talus slopes, and the lush temperate rain forests characterizing the Pacific Northwest, Eagle Creek to Tunnel Falls is a moderate, 12 mile in-and-out day hike with 2,142 ft in elevation gain.

Come join Darshini and the crew in the morning for an Oregon classic and make new hiking friends! We will take lots of breaks and stop for pictures.

The hike to Tunnel Falls is one of the most storied day trips in the Pacific Northwest. You'll encounter 8 major waterfalls along Eagle Creek and its tributaries, with lots of smaller and seasonal falls in-between. You're also encouraged to add 1 more mile round-trip to see the last 2 large waterfalls in the drainage, both on the West Fork Eagle Creek. This is one of the easier 12-mile hikes you'll accomplish, though the caveat is that the trail in many sections was blasted out of the basalt cliff faces by the 1915 crews that constructed it in conjunction with the work on the Historic Columbia River Highway. There are six sections where cable handrails will give you a sense of security as you pass above vertical drops.
