Party Time!

It's official. We're taking a summer break from all that academic learning and presentations and just hanging out and playing at the park!

This month's Seattle JS meetup is happening at Woodland Park. Microsoft is sponsoring this month and bringing in a food truck, activities, and some fun prizes.

We'd love for you to bring your family. Please be sure to include them in your RSVP.

Woodland Park - Activities and Amenities

Woodland Park has a lot to offer!

Woodland Park is an exciting, multipurpose park and recreation space just southwest of Green Lake and north of the Fremont district. It is separated into two parts by Aurora Avenue.

The side west of Aurora is largely occupied by the Woodland Park Zoo, but also includes some picnic space, a formal rose garden, a few open spaces, and a play area for children. East of Aurora, just south of Green Lake Park, the park is an ideal spot for picnics with reservable picnic areas, barbecues, woods, pleasant grassy hills and pathways. It is also one of the city's most active hubs for sports and recreation, including walkway paths, several playfields, tennis courts, lawn bowling, horseshoe pits, a skatepark, and a large, wooded dog off-leash area.

Check out the Woodland Park website (http://www.seattle.gov/parks/find/parks/woodland-park) to get more details.

Details

A food truck will be onsite to provide dinner. Details for the sake of diet planning will be provided here as soon as possible.

Please keep in mind that alcohol is not allowed at Seattle parks. It would be a good idea to bring some form of hydration, though.

Here are some other ideas for what to bring: water, blanket, yard toys and games, sunscreen, sun glasses, camera, snacks, flashlight/headlamp (sun will set at 7:35).

Directions

We're at Woodland Park Shelter #6. There is a parking lot at the shelter. There is a turn off from Aurora, and you can also enter from the Green Lake Way side. Here's an aerial shot so you know where it's at, and check out this map (http://www.seattleukulele.org/pdf/WoodlandPark4-7.pdf) to find a good place to park.
