abstract:: The web is a powerful medium that provides unparalleled information access and the ability to publish dynamic multimedia narratives. In this talk I discuss Idyll, an open source project designed to lower the barrier to entry to create explorable explanations and the types of interactive articles published by news outlets like the New York Times, the Guardian, and the Washington Post.
bio:: Matthew Conlen is a software developer, computational journalist, and Ph.D. student at the University of Washington. He is the creator of the Idyll project, and has worked with news outlets like FiveThirtyEight, the New Yorker, and the Huffington Post.
