TALK ONE
A MicroService approach to Modern User Interfaces
by Benjamin Cripps

At Indeed we're building a platform to help job seekers find jobs, and we've got hundreds of engineers working on that problem. Historically, that's meant we've had a lot of engineers working in monolith applications. And that's meant slower velocity than we'd like.

In this talk, we'll discuss how Indeed is pivoting from monolith web apps to a new approach, where each piece of content is a independent application. We'll cover the high level architecture, and what that means for our users, and our engineers.

TALK TWO
Fantastic Fields and How to See Them
by Andrei Kashcha

I'd like to prove that the boring and scary term `vector field` is, in fact, a fantastically beautiful construction that can be seen with the help of javascript.

The topic overlaps concepts from machine learning, javascript and art. I promise to explain the math behind it in an engaging way and not let anyone fall asleep :). At the end of the talk people will have at least one more powerful tool in their toolset.

Part of the talk will explain everything beneath https://anvaka.github.io/fieldplay/

My name is Andrei Kashcha. I am passionate about building beautiful visualizations in the browser.

TALK THREE
Dive into JavaScript Serverless with Apache OpenWhisk
by Upkar Lidder

Let's dive into Serverless concepts, including Actions and Triggers on the OpenWhisk Serverless open source platform. We will use the `wsk` command-line tool to create and organize JavaScript functions in packages that can be run on demand. Apache OpenWhisk (Incubating) is an open source, distributed Serverless platform that executes functions (fx) in response to events at any scale. OpenWhisk manages the infrastructure, servers and scaling using Docker containers so you can focus on building amazing and efficient applications.

Upkar Lidder is a Full Stack Developer and Data Wrangler with a decade of development experience in a variety of roles. He can be seen speaking at various conferences and participating in local tech groups and meetups. He is currently curious about the magic behind Machine Learning and Deep Learning, specifically use of NLP in chatbots. Upkar went to graduate school in Canada and currently resides in the United States.
