TALK ONE
Using Hooks with React-Redux
by Damon Chivers
We will be covering the use of the React-Redux hooks API as an alternative to the connect() Higher Order Component. Hooks have been a hot topic for quite some time and what better way to highlight them than with a commonly used library, React Redux. Hooks give us the ability to always use functions instead of juggling between classes or high order components and at the end of the day just writing cleaner code that's easy to understand.
Damon is an artist, creative, and developer with a passion for teaching others what they are capable of. He is currently a Lead Instructor of Software Engineering for Flatiron School Denver.
TALK TWO
Acing the Technical Interview
by Carmen Miller
This presentation will help any developer who is job searching, or might one day be job searching, to prepare for technical coding interviews. It will cover how to prepare, how to spend your practice time efficiently, how to approach the interview itself, what to do when you get stuck, and more.
Carmen is a software engineer living in Lacey, WA who works at Hatchways - a company that helps junior software engineers land jobs at startups. Her role at Hatchways includes full-stack development, conducting interviews, and helping developers prepare for upcoming interviews. At Hatchways, she's assessed over 500 engineers to date.
