A discussion on bitcoin and taxes with two industry expert special guests

Details

Bitcoin and taxes can be quite a polarizing topic. The goal of this meetup is to present information from professionals in the space, and also have some discussions around the varying viewpoints of those in this meetup

About our speakers:

Daniel Winters, MS Taxation, is the owner of Global Tax Accountants, LLC and a specialist in bitcoin and cryptocurrency taxation. He's written an entire course for CPAs on Bitcoin & Taxes and also writes articles on the subject such as: http://www.coindesk.com/irs-summons-will-mean-coinbase-users/

Colin Mackie is a Seattle-based software engineer; founder/CEO of Bitcoin Taxes (https://bitcoin.tax), the leading capital gains and income tax calculator for Bitcoin, Ethereum and and other digital currencies.

Daniel and Colin will present to us via skype/google hangout, and subsequently do a Q&A for our meetup group.

Daniel will outline rules for Bitcoin and taxes. Colin will demo Bitcoin.tax and show what following these rules looks like in practice.

We also have a co-founder of Node40 in our meetup group. Node40 is a startup based here in Albany which aims to release bitcoin accounting software this year. I believe Perry Woodin will be in attendance to answer questions about their startup for those interested after Colin and Daniel’s presentation.

The current reserved presentation room has a maximum capacity of 16 people (https://i2.wp.com/colonielibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/DSC_0489.jpg?w=1770). If we get more RSVPs than that, I'll look for a larger space. Feel free to comment below with any alternatives.
